Getting to grips with our gift collection

In the early days of the Textile Studio, when it was under the direction of Pamela Clabburn, we collected a study collection of textile objects which were donated by members of the public. Unfortunately these objects have been sitting in boxes, as we have nowhere to display them.

We are currently working on a programme which will involve cataloguing all the objects, checking their condition and uploading them to our electronic Collections Management System. This will them allow us to be able to move some of the objects to other National Trust properties or museums which can use them.

We have had the help of some visiting students, Jocelyn Cook and Echo Godfrey, who have helped us to start cataloguing the many items in our collection.
